Fw: Tait Report

Good evening rugby fans, as we sit on the edge of the Rugby World Cup.  As you know there is also another big game as the Nobs host The World tomorrow at 1pm at the Cru.   Two big games on one day.  We have once again heard from our correspondent Dave Tait as we head into the final big game.  Hope tomorrows games are good ones, see you on the pitch, Da Thug

> We attended the AB v Australia Semi, it was quite a night. I am amazed and vehemence of the AB fans. I think they are really hyped about winning the cup and are prepared do anyone down to achieve that aim. The booing of Quad Cooper and the chanting of "All Blacks;  All Blacks" was quite intimidating.

> On Monday we headed off to the Rotorua area where a kiwi friend had lent us a lake house. It was a lovely place and we had two days there sampling the scenery and the wines. A neighbour took us out on their boat and we caught a 4 1/2 lb rainbow trout which we duly cooked and ate.
>
> On Wednesday we headed for Katikati and the home of Ian Thrush (ex NOB) and his family. On the way we passed through Mount Maunganui a very nice vacation town. We did see a cruise liner there and I now see that John Truman was on the ship. I guess we passed like 'ships in the night'.
>
> Ian lives on a small farm where they grow kiwi fruit, avocados and other assorted fruit. The house and the location are absolutely beautiful. Sally (his wife) has a lovely art studio there too.
>
> We had the pleasure of the company of Ian's son Jerome who plays second row for the Super 15 team the Wellington Hurricanes, and it was very interesting to get his perspective on the cup so far, and the progress of rugby in general from his perspective.
>
> We are now back in Auckland and readying ourselves to head for the Bronze Game. The general feeling around people we bump into here is that Wales were cheated out of a Final Place, and they hope that Wales wins tonight. The papers seem to feel that Wales will win as they will have more heart and drive than Australia. We will see! I just wish for a good open running game that is fun to watch.
