Six Nations

Ladies and Gentlemen

Please find attached The Six Nations schedule for 2012 and also a note from
the Pres. of the Centaurs outlining membership and fees etc.

Just a quick addition to the letter so there is no "double dip"

If you become a member of the NOBS we automatically pay your Centaurs social
membership.
The NOBS voting membership fee is $80 for 2012 which entitles you to participate
in all our various activities , touch rugby , soccer ,cricket, golf , etc plus centaurs social
membership.

If however the NOBS over 35 activities is not for you then the $25 Centaurs social
membership is all you will require to benefit from the reduced admission fees and other
future events that the Centaurs have planned in 2012.

More info to follow on the Six nations later in the week.

NOBS AGM 2012

Good Morning All,

The NOBs AGM was held yesterday and it my great pleasure to announce your new executive for 2012.

There was one change from last year. Firstly, I want to thank Eric Andrea for his past contribution to the executive. Eric will continue to provide technical support for our website and email distribution. We also welcome Jason Leek to the executive. So, your executive for this year is:

Chris Mant - President

Craig Morley - Vice-president

Rolf Thomas - Treasurer

Jack Morrison - Secretary

Peter Allan - Fixtures

Jason Leek - Member at Large

Dave Tait - Member at Large

John Noble - Member at Large

Mike Jefferies - Past President

This year we will be celebrating the NOBS 30th anniversary. I expect there will be several ways we will be recognizing this milestone. I think we are overdue in scheduling a NOBS 10 day tour as well as a commemorative jersey amongst other initiatives. We will be setting up 2 new committees, comprised not only of executive, to facilitate tours and away games and the other for social functions.

I take great pride in being part of such an outstanding organization. With your support and participation, 2012 will be another great year for your club.

Respectfully,

Chris Mant

NOBS WORLD JANUARY 21ST, AGM, AMENDMENTS TO OUR TOUCH LAWS...and I'm the referee....

Good afternoon to everyone; where ever you are in the Nobs World.
The excitement is starting to build as we are just over a week until the AGM; Sunday, January the 29th at 3pm; in the Clubhouse of the Burlington Centaurs.   Touch will be run that Sunday and every Sunday from 1pm. to 2:30 pm.  Cost for the outing is $5.  You won't find a better bargain!   Nominations are open for all positions, with a board up in the Centaurs Clubhouse to record your nominations.  Come early as seating is limited.
Last Thursday evening the Nobs Touch committee [You say you didn't even know we had one?] met, and as a result has made some minor changes to our Outside touch laws.  When we are playing outdoors the same laws that apply in the dome will be used outside, with one exception, and that is to do with kicking.
We are currently kicking after a score has been made and the receiving team has the option of fielding the kick, or playing it after it hits the ground.  If the ball is fielded and dropped, it will result in a kickback. This will remain the same.
A change outside is that from now on when a touch is made, the ball will be placed back through the legs and  it is live.  Defenders must retire 6ft. before making a touch.  This will be the same as indoors.
After any exchange of the ball between teams the ball must be tapped.
So the only difference now between playing indoors and outdoors is we will still be kicking outside.
Your probably asking yourself who is this touch committee?  When the Super Gnome still roamed this earth; Saint David was the Czar of touch rugby.  A self proclaimed dictator if you like.  In his absence we now have 4 members to try and match his divine wisdom.  Jack Morrison, Dave Tait, Chris Mant and Craig Morley have now been entrusted with the sacred scrolls.
Dave Tait has forwarded a helpful film for anyone who has played rugby, but especially for all our touch enthusiasts. Please check this out; you'll love it.
See you at the AGM, Da Thug
Subject: Fwd: I'm the referee....

Craig,

The following is an email I received from my rugby club in the Turks and Caicos who appear to be having 'chirping problems'. As one of the local offenders I thought you might like to circulate this piece.

Dave

Following on from recent issues of players criticizing the ref and constant appealing for infringements, check out the below link – classic! "We haven't met before, but I'm the referee…. "

Whilst good natured banter is one thing, we also need to set an example for some of the younger guys who need to understand 'this is not soccer…"

Up yours

Stitch

FW: Memorial for Terry Marshall

Happy New Year,

On behalf of my siblings, I  wanted to express my thanks for the support provided to myself and siblings upon hearing the news of my dad passing.  Many of you asked me to let you know the details of his memorial and wanted to let you know that we have booked the Burlington Performing Arts Centre for Dad's memorial on Saturday Jan 14th from 1-4pm.  http://www.burlingtonpac.ca/Home.html

The more formal piece of the memorial will begin at 2 pm with The Burlington Welsh Choir singing and a few tributes/speeches.  Please do not feel obliged to attend - Burlington is a bit of a hike from Toronto and many of you are too far to attend, but people had been asking, so I just thought I would let you know (and used the same initial email list as previously).

Thanks again to you all for your support...so many kind words, cards, emails, memories of Dad and lots of food and drink...you've all made this time so much easier to bear.

Alison, Kate, Gareth & Myfanwy
