NOB NEWS: TOUCH

If you do not already know Mark and the Toronto Arrows are letting us use their DOME time on Monday Jan 28th form 5:00 to 6:00.  I know that the Tuesday and Thursday touch guys know, I just want to make sure everyone knows it is open to ALL - FREE of Charge.  Now there is talk that we should forgo SUNDAY touch for Monday DOME.  I for one am in favour, heretic you say, not really I am just not available this Sunday.  I am not in a position to cancel Sunday if there are hard core player.  But I do want to make sure there are enough Sunday players to make it worthwhile.  If there is a consensus to skip Sunday in lieu of Monday I will get the word out.

Also on Family Day Feb 18 we also have the DOME from 5:00 to 6:00.  This is again OPEN TO ALL for run around.

Thanks
Phil

NOBS NEWS: AGM Outcome

Well it was an hour none of us will get back, but I do appreciate the turnout, participation, and meat pies (thanks Christina).

Just to recap the outcome, the 2019 Executive is as follows
Phil Gray – President
JP - VP (could not resist!)
Treasurer – the one and only Rolf
Secretary –Tim Ellis
Social – Derek Wiggins
Fixtures – Brian Butler
At Large – Nick Parks
At Large – Rob (I am drawing a blank on last name! Oops – Rob can you pop me an email!)

All of these fine folks are volunteering their time to organize regular touch, contact games and social events.  If you have any suggestions please bring them forward.  There was some good discussion about touring, improving/coordinating for contact, collaboration with the Centaur’s, and how best to use the funds we have accumulated in a responsible way.  All great discussion that we will take up.

I am scheduling our first Executive Meeting on Sunday Feb 10 before touch (11:30) at the clubhouse.    After the first Executive meeting, we will let you know how things are shaping up.

Thanks
Phil

FW: dome Monday 5 pm

Mark is offering up some free dome time this coming Monday from 5 to 6.  You could consider it an informal try out for the Arrows!  Please see Mark’s email and information on an upcoming game.  Please circulate so Mark is not tossing the ball to himself.
Thanks
Phil

Gentlemen,

Nick Manz, through some extensive negotiation, has persuaded John Paisley, owner of the Slye Fox, to show this year's Six Nations.

We need a minimum of 15 people to buy a $100 season ticket. That is another 14, as I am in. Lots of parking, breakfasts are good. Let's go guys!

Phil Gray, could you please forward this to the NOBs general list.

Tim, could you forward to your mailing lists too, including any of last year's social members.

Thanks, get back to me asap, please. We will arrange for eTransfers.

Subject: Sad news - the passing of Trevor Knight

It is with sad news that the Centaurs announce the passing of past club president Trevor Knight. Trevor joined the Centaurs in the mid-70s, having come from Cinderford, England.

Trevor was a talented soccer player and had come to Canada to play for a semi-pro team. After he parted ways with soccer, Trevor switched to the sport of Rugby.

For the Centaurs, Trevor was a talented player and played in the backs in all positions. He was awarded the Endeavor Shield in 1980 and the Endeavour Cup in 1983.

He served as the Rugby clubhouse manager and served as Club president in 1987-1988.

Trevor was also a knowledgeable backs coach and through his direction the Centaurs won the Junior Provincial Championship.

Trevor worked in Burlington at Fisher Ludlow on Appleby Line before being transferred to Michigan.

After a game around the clubhouse you could always find Trevor with a Rye & Coke in his hand and he would be sure to greet you with an “Alight Son”.

Trevor you will be missed.

Cheers

Nick Manz

Adults and  children are in need …….and blankets  or clothes  (especially hats, gloves, scarves and coats ) …anything warm .

I will ensure that these clothes find needy Folk to help them stay warm.

On another note, my understanding is the Slye Fox will be showing the
6-nations game coming up. I am not sure of the details, so if someone has
them let me know and I will share them with the group. Things start at the
beginning of Feb so there is still time to figure this ot.
