FW: *news flash* - Jamaicans want more!

Subject: *news flash* - Jamaicans want more!

Looking to work on their slow ball tactics, the Jamaican National 7's team
will be back at Sherwood tonight to once again face the Centaurs.

Rebuffed by a couple of Marshall Premier division clubs (not sure why any
top club wouldn't want to test their mettle against a NACRA side!), the
Jamaicans will take on 4 teams back to back.

The games kick off at 7pm.

Centaurs, Alumni, and Supporters:

On Tuesday August 21st, Sherwood Forest Park takes on a Caribbean feel as two of the island nations bring their representative teams to take on your Centaurs.

This year's North America Caribbean Rugby Association (NACRA)  7's competition is doubling as the regional qualifying competition for the Rugby 7's World Cup, which is being held in Ottawa on August 25.

As a tune up to this event, the Jamacian National Men's 7's squad will be participating in a 3 team 7's tournament against your Centaurs on Tuesday night. Thank you to NOB, Clarence Brown, for arranging the Jamaican team stop over. Kick off will be 7:00 pm.

As a warm up to the 7's, we are also pleased to welcome the Turks and Caicos U19 Development Team. They will play a mix of  Centaur U16/U18 players. Thanks as well to NOB Dave Tait for arranging this fixture. The junior tilt will kick off at 6:00 pm.

The usual Centaur hospitality and refreshments will be on hand for you to enjoy as well.

Craig, would you kindly send this note to the general NOBS list. Thank you. Larry

Now that the Olympics are safely out of the way the next iconic sports clash is the reprise of the rivalry between the august gentlemen of the NOBS and the bohemian representatives of THE CHOIR!

When? - next Sunday, 19th August. Where? - at the Sherwood Forest County Cricket Grounds, at 12.30 pm.

All Nobs are invited - including those on the retired list. Skill and experience are irrelevant, unless expressed as guile. Bring the same attitude you had when you were boys in the park.

About the middle of the afternoon we will have the traditional "tea break" - if you feel so inclined bring a plate of cricket-type sandwiches, sausage rolls, etc. If in doubt about the fillings think of the last couple of funerals you attended.

As usual we will adhere to the MCC rules - that is those approved by M(el) C(rossfield) C(ricket).

In the event of inclement weather come anyway and we'll try out the sodas at the bar.

Yrs. etc., Larry

Fw: 4th Annual Dickens Golf Tournament - Tuesday, August 21, 2012

Could you please send this out to the SMD and the NOBS regarding the upcoming Dickens golf tournament.

Gentlemen,

What is summer without getting out on the golf course for a great day of fun in the sun with some drinks served up by your favourite waitresses from the Dickens and local pubs from downtown Burlington.

This is a great golf tournament hosted by our club affiliate The Dickens Pub. The Dickens always looks to outshine the competitors' golf tourny's and they are looking to step it up once again this year and you won't be disappointed.

It's a great afternoon with a chance to win a lot of great prizes. The package includes a Monday, August 20 night registration at the Dickens from 7-10 pm where you pick up your gift bag and a free platter of food and beers for your foursome.

The tournament is on Tuesday, August 21 starting off with a free cocktail and food at 11:00 am. There will be bus transportation arranged for pick-up at the Dickens and also in the north end at Plucker's Crab Shack (located at Walker's and Upper Middle). It's a shotgun tee off at 12:30 with a modified scramble format.

Throughout the course there are several oasis holes with free food and drink samples. After the game the bus transportation will let you drop off your clubs and brings you back to the Dickens for a great prime rib dinner and prizes along with live music by semitone.

In the past prizes for best foursome prizes included big screen HD TV's, I-pads and more. Other prizes include gift bags, beer promos and gift cards for local restaurants.

You don't want to miss out on this tournament. If interested need numbers ASAP. We already have one foursome looking at getting at least two others from the Centaurs / NOBS.

Cheers

Hi Craig,

Could you please circulate the following, thank you.

The Over 60's Team for Peterboro on August 18th has pretty much selected it'self. The team now stands as follows:

1. John Noble
2. John Guilfoyle
3. Larry Doyle
4. Laurie Miller?
5. Mike Jeffries
6. Nigel Morgan
7. Dave Tait
8. Keith McIntyre
9. Bazz
10.Bob Nye
11. Rolf
12. Nick Parks
13. Jimmy Newcombe
14.Dermot Fogarty
15. Jack Morrison

Reserve: Terry Burke

There is plenty of room for anyone else who would like a run out.

Could all players please confirm their attendance to me, and whether they are interested in joining in car pooling. Although there will be a meal after the games (in a tent at the field if their clubhouse is not fully available) most people are intending to return on the same day.

There will also be an over 50's game, and possibly a touch game, so come prepared for a great day out. The Peterboro guys came to our do with good numbers, and a visit down there is always fun.
