NOBS NEWs: Touch and Social Update

Well the weather is cooler, but the beat goes on with touch and social events.  Last Friday was a simple pub night out at the Queen’s head in Burlington.  A good turn out and a relaxing evening of banter.  On Friday November 30th we have our formal social, a dress up affair. Tickets will be available shortly for $65/person.  We are looking forward to re-introducing a formal affair to get everyone out before the Christmas season gets going.  All are welcome!

Touch on Tuesday and Thursday (so I have heard) has been going well.  Good attendance and a great value!

To mix things up a bit, we are going to shake up the Sunday tradition of being outside.  On four Sundays in November we are going to play indoors at the Pine Glen Soccer Facility (Oakville) facility (1520 Pine Glen Rd, Oakville, ON L6M 4P4, Canada) between 10:00 and 11:00.  There is a cost of $10/session.  It is a 1/2 field.  Given the Sunday morning session we will not be doing 1:00 touch.  This is just something different, so still looking for your support, and maybe we will get out a few fair weather players.  Given we only have an hour, we want to be ready to go sharp at 10:00, not our usual “social” start.  I am not aware of what is available in the way of change rooms, so assume there are none available.

Last thing, the Centaur’s have their President’s game this Saturday, this is an all comers game.  So if you are looking for another game…here you go.

Don’t forget the HOUR changes this week end!

Pub Social tomorrow..

There are a number of road closures in downtown Burlington this weekend that may affect parking and access to the downtown area for our pub night tomorrow. Most closures seem to be Sat & Sun, but follow the link below for more detailed information!

NOBS NEWS: Sunday indoor touch opportunity

There is an opportunity for Sr. Touch at the Pine Glen facility (Oakville) for November on Sundays between 10:00 to 11:00 for $10.00 a Sunday? I believe the Cru is using the facility for other programs and has some spare capacity.

Just looking to gauge interest/ numbers, we can talk further on Sunday.

Thanks

NOBS NEWS: Chambray

It was a great game last light under the lights. A bit chilly to get going but you warmed up soon enough. The Chambray side was one of the best that we have encountered over the past number of year. They had some solid backs and a core of forwards. Without the tackle skills of Terry it is likely we would have given up a few more scores. She clearly demonstrated how you are to tackle while the rest of us were less than committed to the tackle. Luckily we did tighten up. Thanks to those that made it. It was a good cross section of NOBS, Cru, Centaurs and Bertie's. In the end I believe it was 5-4 for the hosts. Overall a good outing and truly a fun game. Much thanks to Rolf and Bob for taking care of food, BArry for the lights, Tim for the fixture, Pete as ref and Mike Cartright for getting the players out.
Thanks

Pub Social Evening - Friday 26th October

Dear All!

There will be Pub Social evening on Friday 26th October at the Queen's Head Pub in Burlington, commencing at 7:30pm.

Partners are welcome, the pub has food available, pool & darts, and there may be a live band playing too.

We had a great turnout for the last social evening in July, so hope to see you there.

PLUS:

There is a formal NOBs dinner/dance event at the Atrium in Burlington on the evening of Friday 30th November, so please mark this in your diary.

Tickets are available now (contact Rolf or a committee member for further information). Its a great venue, and promises to be a good evening, so make sure you support this event!

Nobs News: Chambray Ref Update

Heard back already... and We have a ref! Thanks to those that took action, much appreciated.  Right know we are ~ 4-5 players short so don't hesitate to confirm your availability.
Thanks
Phil

NOBS NEWS: Chambray Update - CONFIRMED OCT 17

The game is confirmed.  for Wednesday evening (Oct 17) under the lights.   The field is located in Tansley Woods Park (Burlington).  Access to the park is off of Walkers Line just south of Upper Middle Road via Kilmer Drive.  At the end of Kilmer is a parking lot and a baseball field, the pitch is just a bit west if you follow the path.  We have the field from 7:00 to 9:00.  So plan on getting to the park for 6:15 at the latest so we can get going before 7:00.  We will go back to the club house for showers and food.
I have heard from some, but I expect others to come out of the woodwork.  I would like to have a better idea on numbers (food planning).  My understanding is Chambray have 13, so we will need to lend them a few for a full 15 a side.  So dust off the boots.
Big ask - Looking for a qualified referee for the game.  If you know a ref or know someone who knows someone that knows a ref - you get the point.  Let me know.  Don't assume someone else is taking care of it because they are not, hence the ask.  Get the word out for a ref and get them to email me (phil.gray@cogeco.ca) we pay going rate.
The other ask - post pads - who has a truck that can get the pads and bring them to the field?  For lines we will need to make do with the low pylons to mark the field, as I doubt there are lines.
We need your help on ref and/or post pads.  Games just don't happen, they take a little effort.
Thanks
Phil
PS - Regarding Oct 20 for Buffalo - at this point we do not have enough committed to make a side (or part of a side).  Unless something changes in the next 24 hours, then it won't happen.  I keep hearing people want games, but hard to arrange games when we can't reliably count on having players.  This is something we need to look at next year.

NOBS NEWS: Chambray

Just heard that this Wednesday Oct 17 is the Chambray fixture. Not a lot of notice but that is the way it is! Spread the word ASAP. At this moment the game will be played at a Tansley Woods field (grass) at Uppermiddle and Walkers. Time is to be confirmed.

We need to get players confirmed so spread the word. We will provide details so keep watching for updates.

Also, Oct 20 Buffalo - 5-6 confirmed does not make a team! Unless we can get up to 15 then we will need to pull the plug on Monday. I need to know on Monday.

Thanks
Phil

Nobs News: October 20 Contact Game - Buffalo

I have heard from a few confirming they are available for October 20 @11:00 KO in Buffalo - but not enough to make up a side.  So if you have been slow to respond, the time is now.  This is not just a Nobs game, but a classic Canada vs USA game! Ok, over dramatic but still will be good fun.

So if there are GITS or Hamilton Players looking for a game on the 20th, let me know by October 12th.  Share the email with others.
Thanks
