Hello old Pious one.
If you could tear yourself away from your meditations with Francis could you send an email to the great unwashed and even to the ones who have had a clean thought in the last year or two!
We have half of the artificial on Tues. night starting at 6:30 yes 6:30 due to the light.
Thurs. night we can start early as well at 6:30 as there is no one ahead of us.
ALSO Burlington soccer has asked that we run in flat or soccer type shoes from now on as the rounded studs bugger up the surface.
Thank you and God Bless.

Fw: NOBS WORLD MARCH 22,2013, ODDS AND SODS

Good afternoon to everyone in the NOBS World.  Just a few loose ends to tie up.  Next Tuesday, March 26th is the last evening for the dome on Tuesdays.  Fear not; we have been informed by the Centaurs, the outside artificial surface will be available.  We will be starting at 6:30, or as soon as we have a quorum, to take advantage of the daylight.  This is to start on April 2nd with a $5 match fee to cover costs.  We will keep you posted on any further information we receive as we get closer to that date.

Better late than never.  Last November, our most senior playing member turned 80!   Last week, we finally  tracked him down and presented him with a commemorative NOBS  jersey to honour Larry Doyle's birthday.  Belated, Happy Birthday Larry.  May you have many more.

WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS!

Here they are folks, this year's champions of the NOBS, Saint Patrick Day's Touch Tournament. Left to right, Nick Park, Matt Brotman, tournament MVP Ravi, Mike Moroney, Keith McIntyre, Dan Brotman, and Jimmy Newcombe.  Absent was Tony Windsor.  To the right of the team is Sue Morrison and her lovely sister, who did a bang up job on the food that day.  Once again; thank you ladies.

That it!  Six Nations are in the can, and hopefully all the tears are now dried up.  Touch is still on in the dome until the end of April and we are out every Sunday at 1pm in Burlington for touch.  See you soon, Da Thug.

IT'S SAINT PATRICKS DAY!

Most of the year Scott Seidman of Long Island NY; makes his living as a

donned a green tuxedo and top hat and hit bars in New York City….as a

posing for pictures and entertaining patrons. He has established an
excellent reputation around the city. Said one promoter, "We've had some
nightmare leprechauns over the years. A lot of them can't hold their

Fw: NOBS WORLD MARCH 15 "BEWARE OF THE IDES OF MARCH"

COACHES CORNER

[Read this in Dons voice]

Alright, listen up all you sleepy heads.  It seems our mutual friend, Da Thug is calling this one in today.  Something about the little princess was out past his bed time last night and can't make role call?

From what I understand you rugby types, and I'm going to tell you right now; I like any game where everybody gets to handle the ball, and lay out some hits, are holding a Saint Patrick Day event.  I see you've celebrated the green in Savannah Georgia, Santiago Chile and finally, it's about time,  right here in Canada.   So I see that when you hold your touch tournament around 12:30 on Sunday, it should be a sunny day, with the temperature around -1c.  Nice day to be out playing hockey on the pond.

In case you smarty pants are wondering; "what's Grapes, got to do with Saint Patrick's Day?"  Well I can trace my ancestry back to County Kerry, Ireland.  Green and gold is the county's colours, and I bet I'd look pretty sharp in one of those NOBS jerseys.

Don't be late, Donald S. Cherry

Fw: NOBS WORLD, SAINT PATRICK DAY WEEKEND EVENTS

----- Original Message -----
Sent: Wednesday, March 13, 2013 11:18 AM
Subject: NOBS WORLD, SAINT PATRICK DAY WEEKEND EVENTS

As you can see we've got the NOBS World Headquarters all decked out for Saint  Patrick's day.

There's a full weekend of events for everyone to take part in.  It all starts off with a Six Nations

tripleheader,  follow that up with the Burlington Centaurs, March 16th St. Practice day [see below]

and then the big event Sunday, The NOBS, St. Patrick's Day Touch Tournament.

We have already had some of the big touch superstars confirm they will be out to take part,

Gareth Williams, Mr. Stu Riley, battling Mike Belanger, Kevin Bloska and more!  You'll have to

be there to see who all turns up.

Bigger news than that we have arranged for 2 big names in the NOBS Irish community to help

us with the post- game presentations.  Legendary NOB / XL,  Mike Moroney has agreed to

present the winning side with their award, while the young Irish immigrant, rag to riches, Tim

Horton coffee  baron, Dermot Fogarty will grace us  with his presence to make the player of the

Tournament  Award.

We here at NOBS World are keeping an eye on the selection of the next Pope.  Whys that, you say?

Keeping with our Irish theme; one of Ireland's favourite sons, Bono is still a 500 to 1 odds to be the

next Pope according to British bookmakers.

See you on the pitch,  Da Thug.

Centaurs, Alumi and Supporters:

With the dawn of a new season, there can never be enough training and so in an effort

to get March 17th right, the Burlington Centaurs bring you...........

ST. PRACTICE DAY , 2013......because you dont want to hurt yourself on March 17th.

Saturday March 16th begins at 10:30am with Live 6 Nations action and the triple header opener,

Italy vs Ireland. Then at 1:00pm, a Grand Slam and Tournament Championship is at stake as

England takes on Wales. Finally at 4pm, it'll be France looking for some pride to go along with

their wooden spoon as they take on Scotland.

As always, admission for the day is $20, whether its one game or three, so you might as well get there early and settle in.

Thanks to club sponsor, Carlsberg, we have a 2013 England jersey to raffle off.

In the morning, Scott Hendry will be serving up his famous bacon & egg sandwiches and then

during the afternoon we'll have that traditional Irish staple.............pulled pork sandwiches.

All food proceeds go to the junior division, so you'll have one anyways, right?

After the rugby, the evening continues with green beer and for entertainment you can enjoy one of

Burlingtons popular bar entertainers , former Centaur, rugby blogger (http://jonnysrugbyrant.wordpress.com/ ) and

new father to twins........Jon Goldie (where does he find the time!)

So there's a full day of practice.......just to make sure you don't pull anything on St. Paddy's Day!

Fw: NOBS WORLD, MARCH 11TH 2013

Good afternoon rugby fans.  We are now down to 6 days till Saint Patrick's Day and the NOBS touch tourney.  We have become aware that some of the touch players who just play on Sundays are not aware of the revised touch laws.  Here's another chance to have a look at them.  One thing about this Sundays event.  The touch rules state that the game is restarted after a try with a tap from center.  Outside, the scoring team kicks the ball back.  We will be using the kick this Sunday.

Don't forget everything gets underway at 12:30 when the selection of the teams occur.  If you are a late comer you will be slotted into a team by the selection committee of Morrison & Morley. Bring along a dark and light coloured jersey.

We have received an email from NOB Jon Goldie and his rugby blog.  He's got a lot on his mind about rugby and not afraid to share it. Give it a look.

See you Sunday, Da Thug.

Jonny's Rugby Rant returns for 2013, this time for good!!

Bound to stimulate, guaranteed to offend!

Please pass on to all your DL's and those think may be interested in talking rugby on my blog J. This is a work in progress but I'm up all night with babies right now so this gives me something to do J

Fw: SAINT PATRICK'S DAY TOUCH TOURNAMENT

Sunday, March 17th , Saint Patrick's Day we are holding a touch tournament, outside, on the

artificial  turf, at Burlington's beautiful Sherwood Forest Park.  Things get underway at 12:30.

The format for the day is much like we do inside the dome on a Thursday evening, with the

exception of the scoring team kicking off after the try.  We will divide ourselves into 4 teams,

and then play a 3 game round robin.  Afterwards it will be upstairs in the Centaurs Clubhouse

for the speeches, awards presentations, food and liquid refreshments.   All this for a mere $5!

Please bring along with you a white and dark jersey.   The referees have been arranged, the

Barmaid has been booked, so all we need now is you.  See you on Saint Patrick's Day, Da Thug

NOBS WORLD MARCH 6 2013

Ladies and gentlemen.  It is with sadness that we have to announce the passing of Ken Carter, father of NOB, Steve Carter.  Ken was a long time member of the Burlington Centaurs, and lifelong supporter of rugby.   Ken was well known to many of the NOBS membership.  Our thoughts and prayers are with the Carter family at this time.  When we receive details of Ken’s funeral arrangements, we will pass it along.  Craig

Subject: NOBS WORLD, SAINT PATRICKS DAY TOUCH TOURNAMENT.

Good afternoon rugby fans all across the NOBS World.  On St. Patrick's day, Sunday, March 17th we are holding a touch tournament, rain or shine and the temperature doesn't matter.  If your reading this email, your invited.  The cost for this event is a mere $5.  Same as it is every other Sunday.  The event will be run in the same manner we hold our team nights in the Dome on Thursdays.  We will have referees on hand, to keep the rabble under control.  After wards it's up into the Centaurs clubhouse for food and drink, post-game speeches and presentations.

The event gets under way at 12:30 and the games will run until about 2:30.  Where's this all happening you ask?  Sherwood Forest park in Burlington on the outdoor artificial turfed soccer pitch.   Come on out and start getting fit for the upcoming season.

This Sunday we set the clocks forward and there is a double header on tap.  At 11am England plays Italy in 6 Nations action and then at 1pm it's an afternoon of touch.  See you Sunday, Da Thug
