NOBS News: Game Round up and Next Events

What a glorious Sunday for a game.  Yesterday at Sherwood we had a full 15 aside game with a split generally along NOBs and Silverbacks.  Both sides had some great support from some GITS, Grimsby, Lockport and Buffalo.  We also welcomed back Pablo to the NOBS fold, but at the same time said fair well to Mark Platt.  I also met Dean, a recent import from BC who was looking for a game.  A good game overall, with the Silverback side getting the win I think 5 to 2 trys...but who's counting.  Both sides had some good ball handling in the backs, with the hands failing on occasion for both.  For the NOBs some good runs by Mike Cartwright, Brad and Kyle with some good tackles by Brian.  I believe the NOBs phase ball made for some good ball possession, but that did not always translate into a score.  The front three (Rob, Mark, Pablo) had their work cut out for them against a very strong opposition pack.

As always these games don't happen without the support of others such as Rolf, Craig and Tim  taking care of off the field activities and the ref taking care of the on field antics (including preventing a try!).  Also the NOBs were presented a ball and t-shirt from the Lockport club showing their appreciation for our hospitality. Very Much Appreciated.

Upcoming events:

1. The Coburg Tournament - Saturday Oct 1 (not the 2) - We do not have enough for a team, but you can pick up a game by just showing up.

2. Dome sign up night - Friday October 14th (7:00 to 9:00)

3. Pickup Game (Contact).  We are looking to schedule another contact game in mid-late October similar to yesterday - hoping to firm something up this week.

4. East/West Game - Sunday October 30th, Hamilton, 1:00 (all comers)

5. Chambry - Wednesday, November 2, Sherwood (TBD)

NOBS: GAME ON For Sunday 25th

Thanks to all that have responded.  The game is ON for Sunday the 25th - Kick off @ 1:00 at Sherwood Park, Burlington
We will need to put together teams, so come a little early.  We have players from the GITS, Bruce County, Lockport, Hamilton and the NOBS confirmed.  NOBS, if you have a green and yellow jersey bring both.

Also, Mark Platt will be making his final appearance with the NOBS.  Over the summer he and family moved back to the UK, but he is in town this weekend to tidy up loose ends.  Although, it's Mark's last game, we are hoping it will be the first game back for Pablo after his three year absence.

See you at the game.
