FW: Club Day- May 4th & announcements

Good afternoon rugby enthusiasts.  I have received word from the Burlington Centaurs that they are holding a ruby club day this Saturday, May 4th.   They have extended an invitation [see below photo] for NOBS to come out and join in.  If you’re interested in participating you can either speak directly with Barry Goldberg or contact him at bgoldberg1@cogeco.ca  Da Thug.

Centaurs, Alumni, and Supporters:

Club day has traditionally been a day when a lot of our teams are playing games at home and we encourage all our members to come out and support each other's games.

This year, with the men's and women's games this weekend vs Guelph cancelled and teams not playing at home until mid June, we wanted to bring the club together for some rugby fun and fellowship.

Here's the details :

WHEN :  Sat. May 4th 11:00am - 12:300pm

WHERE : Sherwood Forest Park

WHO : any U8 to NOBS who: 1)participated in any of the winter dome programs, OR 2)has registered for the 2013 outdoor season, OR 3) is maybe thinking about playing this summer.

WHAT : Centaur Rugby Olympics I

WHAT ???? : Teams will be composed of participants from each age group from U8 to Nobs, and they will compete in a series of fun rugby related activities (relays, walking flag rugby, inflatable challenges etc) that all can do. Cleats are not needed if you haven't got them yet (in fact, they're discouraged as we aren't officially allowed on the field until Monday !)

HOW : Please let me know if possible by Thursday if you're participating so the teams can made up prior to Saturday.....and of course let me know how many other family members are coming to cheer so we can make sure we've got enough burgers and hotdogs. If your willing to do some bbq'ing (volunteer hours opportunity)let me know that as well.

WHY : quite simply (and this year's motto)..... ONE CLUB - ONE GAME

Announcements and Reminders :

1) Membership has its privileges, and so attached to this email is a notice of a clothing sale by a company called Throat Threads that is being extended to the Centaur family through Andy Maunder. Great bargains to be had.

2) I am starting to get a second round of people inquiring about Canada/Ireland tickets. I am requesting that if you have ordered tickets, that they be picked up this Tues, Thursday, or Saturday. If you can't make it down then please at least email the funds to me.

I want to make sure all of the first group are taken before ordering more. If you have changed your mind about the number you ordered or if you can no longer attend, I may be able to pass them on to others......but let me know this week.

GO CENTAURS !

Re: GAME THIS SUNDAY

Two things I have heard, since posting this email.  1.  The referee is on a bit of a tight schedule this Sunday, so it is very important we get our game off by 1pm.  Could you send out the word to all of your players, to be there by 12:30, and get ready to go?  2.  Ray Hopkins makes a great point.  Please get your players registered.  One other thing.  You may want to pass this on to some of your older players; or just those who don't want to participate in the contact game any more.  The NOBS will be playing touch at the CRU this Sunday, starting at noon.  All are invited to join in.

Hi Craig

Johnny here !

I just wondered if you could send a message to the troops about the game on Sun at 1 pm and that we are also trying to get a touch game going at 12 so we can cheer and heckle the troops after.

Always in your gratitude,

John

Fw: NOBS WORLD APRIL 23, 2013...AND SO IT BEGINS

Good afternoon, to everyone across the Nobs World.  The winter touch season wrapped up last Sunday, and the summer sessions begin this evening.  Touch is run every Tuesday and Thursday's at a rugby club near you.  Touch will continue to run every Sunday in Burlington at 1pm; except this Sunday.  This Sunday, touch will be held in Oakville at the home of the Oakville Crusaders, to tie in with the beginning of the NOBS season.

This Sunday at 1pm, it all begins again, as rugby warriors from all across southern Ontario, gather at Crusaders park to re-new old rivalrys.  If that's not enough; Sunday May 5, we will head on over to Markham to continue, where we left off on the 28th.   Kickoff is 1pm in Markham.

May 12th and May 19th; there are no games due to Mothers Day and the Victoria Day weekend.  We will sending along to  everyone shortly a complete NOBS fixture list.   Games will resume on the 26th of May.  Touch will be run in Burlington on those dates.  No need to let your fitness, fall off!

Now theres a catch to all of this.   Registration for the 2013 is underway and you need to be a registered player to participate in the contact games.  If you can't make it down this Thursday to the Centaurs clubhouse, please get in touch with Chris Mant at cmant@cogeco.ca to make alternate arrangements.  Social memberships are also due now for all of you touch participants.  Please note, if you plan on playing contact and are registered as  a player with a senior men's club, you are only required to be a social member of the NOBS to participate in all NOBs planned fixtures.

Touch ends in the Dome this Thursday and its outside until next October.  Don't forget a light and dark jersey.

see you at the Cru, Da Thug

TOUCH UPDATE

Good morning to everyone across the NOBS World.  Touch got under way last night outside and we had a nice turn out.  We are outside every Tuesday now until next October and the return of the Dome.  We start at 6:30 and an added bonus, for the next 3 weeks will be on the artificial surface.  There are only 4 more weeks in the Dome on Thursdays, but I have been informed that we can start at 6:30, so get there early.  We are still out Sundays at 1pm. Lots of opportunities to start getting fit for the season, so we’ll see you on the pitch, Da Thug

TONIGHT

Good afternoon folks, just a little update on this evenings touch.  Tonight we will be using the end zone of the rugby pitch, so please bring appropriate foot ware to run on it.  I have been told that there might be a chance the artificial turf will be available to us, but please be prepared to run on the field.  We will be starting at 6:30 to take advantage of the day light.  Don’t be put off by the cool weather we have today.  We have run in much colder and worse conditions over the winter.  We are after all; rugby players.  See you in the end zone, Da Thug

Hello old Pious one.
If you could tear yourself away from your meditations with Francis could you send an email to the great unwashed and even to the ones who have had a clean thought in the last year or two!
We have half of the artificial on Tues. night starting at 6:30 yes 6:30 due to the light.
Thurs. night we can start early as well at 6:30 as there is no one ahead of us.
ALSO Burlington soccer has asked that we run in flat or soccer type shoes from now on as the rounded studs bugger up the surface.
Thank you and God Bless.

RE: Prayers and Devotions

For those that are without ( soccer style shoes) whatever that means

I MAY have some new brand name indoor / outdoor shoes from liquidated stock at
extremely "attractive" prices . ($25 ish)

Also regular rugby boots , Flankers etc.

If interested send me your name with type of boot and boot size
US size is usually 1/2 a size larger than UK size. Check your old boots
if still legible.
I will grab whatever they have and bring to the club.

I am doing this as a favour and do not need the extra  work, so please
keep it simple for a simple soul.
