"THERE WILL BE BLOOD" FW: Peterborough Platinum Oldies

 

There will be blood this Saturday, as the NOBS take on the Centaurs BARFS.  Oh who am I kidding; it’s just a friendly, if there is such a thing in rugby.  Something I did not mention before, we are in the “YELLOW” jerseys this Saturday.  For those who don’t have them, they will be provided.

 

So, don’t say you haven’t been told.  The game kickoffs at 11am.  This is 11am real world time; not Old Boys.  Get there early, dressed, warmed up, and ready to go.  Don’t forget it is also a photo day and we are inviting all NOBS, playing and not to come join us for a photo after the match.

 

There is also touch, this Sunday, as usual at 1pm.

Ed Holton here---fixtures secretary for the Kawartha Krocks.....may I suggest our annual Platinum Oldies on Sat. Aug 16th at Nicholls Oval in Peterborough. An over-60 match (absolutely minimal contact) followed by an over-50's game...a little bit more tackling, and new this year, our over-35's ladies touch team will take on all-comers who prefer touch rugby (male or female).
 
My recommendation would be bring the spouse/family and a night at the Holiday Inn Waterfront; great Gazebo bar at the back of the hotel on the river + an indoor pool that extends into the outdoors! Also, that night, about a 3 minute walk away is our free Musicfest with Hotel California playing (Eagles tribute). The next day you could take the Liftlock Cruise boat up the Peterborough Liftlocks (world's largest hydraulic liftlock)---approx. 1 minute walk from hotel.

 

Don't forget our new clubhouse, great Krock hospitality, etc. etc.

Great News! August 23rd we will be back tearing up the turf for the NOBS annual golf tournament and dinner. This year, we will be playing at Millcroft Golf Club with the first tee time at noon followed with dinner at the Centaurs Clubhouse at 7pm.

The format is best ball and you are encouraged to form your own foursome. Ringer foursomes will be handicapped if necessary. The cost for golf is $49 walking or $65 with a cart. Dinner is $10 each but that is waived for anyone bringing a salad. Your inspired creations are most welcomed.

Due to the Centaurs home games on August 23 we will only have exclusive use of the clubhouse at 7pm but are always welcome prior to that.

The Senators have registered a team in the 55 and over division at The Canam Rugby Tournament in Saranac Lake.  We play Friday the 1st of August with one game in the morning and 1 in the afternoon.  Time TBA.  We have entered as the Odds and Sods so if you look online you the schedule will be posted.  We are looking for support from friends of the Senators so if you want to be included let me know and please pass on to others.

This Sunday in Burlington we will be holding a Father/Daughter/son game, at 1pm.  We need to have as many bodies as possible.  It will be a friendly [as long as the kids don't take it too seriously] and young and old are invited to take part.  If your kids are involved in rugby or played in the past; come on out.
