NOBS WORLD MARCH 30TH, 2012

Good morning rugby fans all across the Nobs World.  The

Dome touch season came to a close yesterday evening

with the Gnome Cup; a one night affair, to establish off

season bragging rights.  The mighty Blues were unable to

pull off the double, double  after winning the League Cup

in dramatic comeback fashion two weeks ago, they dropped

a hard fought match to the Green Machine.   We are not sure

at this time what will be happening next Thursday,  but we will

probable be outside so dress accordingly.  As soon as word reaches

us at the Nobs World Headquarters we will pass it on to you.

Speaking of touch [which still continues Sundays @ 1pm] we would

like you to be like Prince Harry and his mates and bring a light and

dark jersey.  Speaking of Harry, he’s a military man who knows

a little about discipline and that is what we’re hoping everyone

brings along to touch.   It’s all about getting a run in and having

a laugh.  See you on the pitch this Sunday.  Da Thug

What is ULTRA 7'S RUGBY

It is basically is a modified version of rugby 7's using the established laws of the game but adding some North American flavour which will make for exiting, high scoring, first time viewer friendly entertainment. Imagine 60 minutes of this -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GZjw-N4zM0g

Here are some of the basics of ULTRA 7's RUGBY:
- each team will be comprised of up to 23 players
- the game is played in four 15 minute quarters with a 20 minute half time break. There is also a 5 minute break between the other periods.
- random/rolling substitution like in basketball and ice hockey (the precise law modifications in regards to substitutions will be published  in due course)

What are the benefits of ULTRA 7's RUGBY ?
- a high scoring game fast paced game which is relatively easy to understand by non rugby types.
- with the stoppages/intermissions like in ice hockey it is more conducive to a TV audience where advirtising/commercials are of the essence.
- teams have 23 players rather than 12 players involved which of course is beneficial for development of players. There is also now also room for some role /impact players big man in certain situations in a game
- the coach(es) like in the big 4 North American sports(hockey, baseball, basketball and football) becomes a real personality and has an ongoing impact on the game with his ongoing strategies and match ups.

ULTRA 7'S RUGBY entered into a 3 year major sponsorship agreement with KUKRI which are one of the largest global sports kit and equipment suppliers. YOUNG'S EQUIPMENT (full service HI Case dealer) with 7 Saskatchewan locations along with LABATT who have over 160 years of brewing excellence in Canada have also come on board as sponsors . We believe that these 3 major companies showing their support for this exiting new endeavour is a significant first step in ULTRA 7'S RUGBY development and growth in Canada,USA and around the world.

The inaugural ULTRA 7'S RUGBY game will be played in Regina , Saskatchewan, Canada at 4:30 pm on May 12, 2012 at the Regina Rugby Union Clubhouse and Fields ( 4025 - 25th Ave) between traditional rivals the Wolverines(North Saskatchewan) and the Prairie Fire(South Saskatchewan). The game will be broadcast on the local Access TV network and will shortly there after be online to be viewed around the world. The broadcast crew will be headed up Gareth Rees (www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8_CmuEUIME) who has has worked with TSN and BBC on various international rugby telecasts including a number of Rugby World Cups.

NOBS WORLD SATURDAY MARCH 24TH

Good morning to everyone across the Nobs World.   Not much action this morning with the 6 Nations all wrapped up.   It seems some of the English supporters have jumped on the Wale band wagon and we have photo’s to prove it.  Touch is on this Sunday and every Sunday at 1pm in Burlington.  The season is drawing closer so come out and work [start?] on that fitness.  There is still time to snatch up the last few tickets available for the Nobs 30th Anniversary Dinner on April 7th.  Get in touch with John Noble, Bob Cunningham or Barry Hyslop.  This Thursday is the last evening in the Dome before we head back outside.  It’s a well-known fact that the Nobs like to gather around the TV and take in a game.  With not much on we encourage you to click on the You Tube link below and enjoy some competition.  See you on the pitch, Da Thug

Sunday Touch Notice

Good Morning All,
Along with the great weather, the Sunday Touch group has become very
popular. We have been getting more young ones as well as senior men
attending. While this is good for rugby, it changes the nature of our game.
Such a diverse range in skills, speed and size makes a dangerous
environment for all.
For reasons of available space, as well as safety for the young ones, we
find it necessary to maintain the run-around for the over 35 players.
Please feel free to email with any comments or concerns you may have.
Respectfully,
Chris Mant

FW: NOB's 30th flier

Good morning rugby fans throughout the Nobs World.  We’ve enclosed today for your viewing pleasure a copy of the poster for our 30 Anniversary and Dance on April 7th.  Talking to the organizers last week ticket sales are going well.  Don’t miss out!

We are now down to our last 4 weeks of indoor touch.  This may seem a bit late but I understand that some of you are not getting our Dome emails.  If this is the case, let me know as we still have some important dome information to pass on.

When we move out doors to play touch in April we plan our starting to play the international touch game, so that next year when we are back in the dome, we will be using the same rules as the senior men will be playing.  The ORU is looking to advance touch in the province and they will also be using these rules.  More on this to come as we move towards April and outside.

Touch is still going well on Sundays in Burlington  at 1pm; outside on the artificial turf.  The cost is a mere $5, but I have been told that some people are not paying the fee.  Please do, as the club has to make up the difference.

Six Nations this weekend, so we can look forward to Rolfs update on that.  See you on the pitch, Da Thug

NOBS WORLD, A MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR

Word has reached us here at the Nobs World of a big event planned this Saturday.  A Magical Mystery Tour; on a Magic Bus no less!  Our intrepid reporter Rolf Thomas has sent us all an invitation to come join in on Brian Butler’s, Stag / Pub Crawl.  Everything you need to know has been provided for us by Rolf.  I think Brian’s the guy with OPP patch.  Da Thug

Hi Craig

Could you put the details of this out to our NOBS

Brian (Butler) is getting married on 24th March to his good lady Laura
and he feels confident that his Rugby buddies will take good care of him
if he were to embark on a "Stag / Pub Crawl" with them prior to his nuptuals.

On Saturday March 3rd 2012 he has entrusted his body to us commencing at.
4.00pm first port of call being the SLY FOX.
A charabanc (last used by Edward VIII and Wallis Simpson for a road trip to
Brighton) will be available to transport the revellers to an assortment of beverage
and entertainment venues.

At 9.00 pm transportation will return to the SLY FOX in time to watch "Match of the Day"
or "Corrie Street". At least that is the plan.
