They found a leak in the tank so they're going to replace it tomorrow but not do the changeover until next Wednesday (28th) so we can have water over the weekend.

But may not have water for tonight or at least no hot water.

Guys,

Just got notice that the city is going to change over to tankless water and they want to do it now.

I suggested doing it Dec 28. They said we'd be out of water for 2-3 days so figured no showers needed during this time.

But I wasn't sure if the clubhouse is booked for an event.

Can you let me know asap if they can do it next week?

Thanks,

NOBS NEWs: Holiday Touch - Gnome Bowl

No shortage of opportunities over the holidays to run off the extra eating and drinking that will happen over the holidays.

The Gnome Bowl will be taking place on Saturday December 31 starting 11:00 am, and finishing by 2:00 am. in one of the dome's (not sure which one).  This is a team event with Centaurs, NOBs and friends.  The teams will be made up that day to balance the new, old, talented, and not so talented! In the past it has been a team/round-robin format and is definitely a good run around.  Sounds like a good event before a night of New Year Cheer.  A player fee of $10.00 will be collected cover either the cost of the dome, or to go to the Dave Burnett fund. Best to show up ~15 minutes early so the teams can be set.

As well, there will be Touch (outside) on the Boxing Day (Monday) @1:00,  Sunday Jan 1 @1:00, Sunday Jan 8@1:00, then indoor again on Jan 11 and the Burloak Sports Centre.

All the best to family and friends over the Christmas and New Year holidays.

NOBs News: Laws of Touch Reminder

David asked me to pass this on as a reminder of the laws of touch rugby (NOBs style) and what is important.

It was evident from Sunday's Touch 'Run Around' that a number of players are not well acquainted with the Laws of Touch Rugby, and have developed a win at all cost attitude.

Bearing in mind that we are out there for a run around to stay fit and have some fun, and that some of our group are now more frail than they were, I have attached a refresher on the laws.

Lets work on balancing the teams as best we can, and play with a sense of fair play, and adherence to the laws, which you will recall is the essence of the game we all love.

David

NIAGARA OLD BOYS

LAWS OF TOUCH RUGBY

1.      Play starts and re-starts at the centre with a tap of the ball on the ground with the foot and then picked up. Penalties are performed the same way.

2.      Re-starts and penalties require the defending team to retreat 6 feet.

3.      A try is scored by an attacking player crossing the defending teams tryline with the ball. One point is awarded.

4.      A touch can be on any part of the body, clothing or the ball (excluding the head). A player claims a touch by raising a hand and shouting “touch”. It is recommended that the touch take place on the arm or shoulder.

5.      When touched the player in possession must place the ball on the ground at the exact point of the touch. Play is re-started by stepping over the ball. This is known as a ‘roll ball’. The ball must not roll more than 3 feet. A player may not perform a roll ball unless touched.

6.      All defending players must retreat 6 feet in line with the mark of touch. The defending team cannot move forward until play re-starts, nor interfere with play while retreating. A re-start occurs the moment the ball is tapped or a player touches the ball at the roll ball.

7.      The ball must be passed backwards at all times, if passed forward or dropped, or if a player crosses the sideline before being touched, change of possession will occur by means of a roll ball.

8.      No kicking is allowed.

9.      If a ball is dropped or passed to the ground a changeover of possession occurs where the ball first landed. A roll ball starts the game again.

10.  The player picking up the ball (known as the dummy-half) may run but if touched a changeover occurs. The dummy-half may not score and a changeover roll ball will be awarded if this occurs.

NOBS NEWS: Touch Update

All, we have booked the NOBs (and friends) into the Burloak Sports Centre for four MONDAY evenings in January (9th/16th/23rd/30th) at 8.30pm for one hour.  It is an indoor artificial turf field with changing facilities.  We have only secured the four nights to see how Monday nights work and if we have the required turnout to cover costs as each night costs about $200.  At this point we have not set a player cost, but will soon.  We will be looking for your support!

The Wednesday (9:00 to 10:30) option is still available through the Touch Rugby League.  You sign up for that as an individual or as part of a team.

Also, a reminder of the December 18, Sunday Touch Christmas Special hosted by Rolf and Craig!

Thanks

NOBS News: DOME Discussion

Now that most realize that the DOME session is wrapping up in a few more weeks, there was discussion on Thursday night about options. Chris Mant (man of action!) did some looking around and found an option at the Burloak Sport centre (Harvester / Appleby) for Monday nights at 8:30 for which is available Jan to April ~16 weeks.  We would need about 30 players to make keep the price at about $125 each.
So the question is, do we have the numbers for a Monday night?????

Also, on Thursday they as talk about putting a team in for Wednesday night (touch league).  There was some interest, but there needs to be a point person.  So if you are willing to be the point person let me know and I can get the word out.

Let me know if you are committed to Monday (maybe does not work)?
Let me know if you want to organize a Wednesday Night team?

Thanks all.

It was good to have Cec Moody present. Cec is undergoing mental and physical

NOBS Touch Sunday - Black Hoody

Not sure how to communicate through Teamer to the Sunday touch crowd?  For those that were out this past Sunday, Stuart R. is looking to see if anyone picked up a black Canadian hoody that was left behind?
Thanks
