NIGEL AND KATRINA MORGAN

Ladies and gentlemen.  Former NOB and longtime friends, Nigel & Katrina Morgan are leaving the country to spend their retirement years in sunny Spain.  We would like to give them a chance to say goodbye to the many friends  they had gathered over the years through rugby.  Wednesday evening at the Cru in conjunction with our post game gathering after the Staff College fixture, we would like to invite everyone to come down and give them a proper send off.  Game time is 7pm.   Da Thug

FW: THANKS FROM THE BLUES

All,

The Ontario Blues wrapped up a perfect season on Saturday in St Johns,
scoring in the 76th minute to beat the Rock 26-23. We finished the CRC 5-0
and 7-0 overall, and used 41 players to do it.

Without the help and support of all of you, however, this would not have
been possible. We have won the MacTier Cup three years in a row, posting a
league record of 13-2 in that time and it is the contributions of all of
you, however big or small, that make this possible.

Attached is an excellent "3-peat" poster from Jose Lagman which we hope you
will accept as a small token of our appreciation.

Yours in Rugby

Mark Winokur
Manager, Ontario Blues
MacTier Cup Champions Since 2010

All

You may already be aware of this tremendous rugby event, but thought that as long time supporters of the game, you would like another note.

The Canada/New Zealand dinner is being held at the Royal York Hotel on Wednesday October 30; not only will this be a great night but THE MAJORITY OF THE PROCEEDS GO DIRECTLY TO ONTARIO RUGBY PROGRAMS, which is really just a huge side benefit.

The Maori are fascinating and entertaining guests both from a rugby and cultural perspective. The Canadian team, plus provincial players, will also be in attendance and in many cases, at your table.

Please take a minute to review the attached and we hope to see you-this would be a huge boost to Ontario rugby also

NOBS WORLD SEPTEMBER 27TH, 2013: fixture address

Good afternoon to everyone in the NOBS World.  Game this Sunday in Toronto, but before we get to that, I have been asked to mention that TOUCH IS ON THIS SUNDAY!  1pm, in Burlington.

This Sunday we are playing the GITS at East York Collegiate.  The address is below, along with driving instructions.  Very important that  we make a good showing.  Afterwards it’s off to the Kilt & Harp; the address is above.

Please bring you “GREEN” JERSEYS.  There will be jerseys for those who  don’t have one.

Carpooling is leaving from Burlington around 11:30am.

This Wednesday at 7pm we are playing the Staff College at the Cru.  Please bring your  “YELLOW” jerseys.  Also please try to be there for 6:30 to get dressed, warmed up, etc.  Thanks to all of you, who got back to us about playing.  The team is being set and as we are limiting the players to those who let us know, if you show up unannounced; you may be disappointed.

One last thing.  We have a game in Brampton on October 6th at 1pm.  Money is being put out for food, referees, so a good showing is needed.  No game on the Thanksgiving weekend, but there will be touch.

Come out and support the club, Da Thug

East York Collegiate Institute 650 Cosburn Ave (north of the Danforth, on Coxwell - come of the Gardiner, onto Lakeshore, then North on Coxwell, straight up until you hit Cosburn. School is right on the corner)

FW: Mark Rad funeral details

Here are the arrangements for Mark Radwanski’s memorial service.

From: Charles Schandl

The memorial service for Mark Radwanski will be held at Cardinal Funeral Home 366 Bathurst in Toronto at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday October 2nd. Afterwards people are invited to their house (60 Chester Ave, Toronto) starting around 4:00 and going for the evening for a chance to raise a glass to Mark and swap tall tales.

FW: Sad News

Kevin/Craig could you please send this to the XL and NOBs lists.

Very sad news that our good friend Mark Radwanski has passed away. As many of you know Mark had battled cancer for a year and seemed to be overcoming it, but sadly took a turn for the worse recently and he passed away peacefully this morning.

Mark was a long time Saracen, XL and NOBS stalwart with friends throughout the Ontario community. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family including his wife Theresa, and children Kaz and Mish. Details on the funeral arrangement will be sent out in the next day or two, and it has been arranged for next Wednesday.

On a personal note Mark was a very good friend, and it's difficult to imagine taking to the rugby field without Mark's bigger than life presence and booming voice as he exhorted us to take it to them!

Re: GAME THIS SUNDAY

Craig I will not be at Sundays game but will be at cru early on Wednesday to meet the chambrays and get things sorted in terms of helping get the food carried inside , meet with ref and so on. Ryan Morrison will be working the bar and jack has organized the food. We will need someone to muck out the change rooms after the game.
I suggest we use the bright yellow jerseys against chambrays as we will be suing part of the game under the lights

NOBS WORLD

Good morning to everyone in the NOBS World.  Well the 10’s have come and gone for another year and despite having to juggle the event at the last moment it went well.  One of the two NOBS entry’s; The Green Doyle’s made it to the championship game, but were defeated by a bunch of GITS!!  It was a good day all around.  Thank you to everyone who pitched it to help with the event.

This Sunday we travel to Toronto for a game at East York Collegiate.  Later on in the week we will get you an address and driving instructions.  Afterwards it’s another opportunity to visit the world famous “Kilt & Harp” official sponsors of the GITS, 2046 Danforth Ave.  Funny how we know that address.

Change of colours to get your attention.  Wednesday, October 2nd it is our annual fixture with the Staff College at the Cru, with a 7pm kickoff.  It’s very important that we are on time, dressed, warmed up and ready to go.  Now even more IMPORTANT, we are limiting our roster to NOBS and invitees.  I have heard so far from some of you your intentions but I need to start setting a roster before the game, so we need to hear from you if you’re going to play.  You may be disappointed if you just show up the day of the game and had not let us know.  Let me know at ctmorley@cogeco.ca If you snooze you lose.

Da Thug.

NOBS WORLD SEPTEMBER 17TH 2013

Good afternoon to everyone across the NOBS World; where ever you are.  One of the big events on the NOBS calendar is on this Sunday, starting at noon in Burlington.  The NOBS annual 10 A-side tournament.  Pictured above is the Green Doyle’s side; winners of last year’s event.

More on the 10’s in a bit, but let’s review the last 2 weeks of events.  2 weeks ago the GITS were in Burlington to help get the second half of the season underway.  It was a great old boys  event, with big plays, tackles and trys.  There was a cast of thousands on hand.   Last Sunday in Markham  on a great day for rugby, on an equally great pitch, there was only 30 players; enough for 2 full sides; thanks go out to the GITS for lending us 3 players!  So where were we?   Teams are going to become hesitant to play us if we don’t travel well to play them.  To all of you who were there; thank you.  We still have a few opportunities to improve on this.  September 29th we travel to southeast Toronto to play the GITS at East York Collegiate.  See you there.  So ends the sermon.

This Sunday as mentioned before is our 10’s event.  Always lots of fun.  The GITS and Brantford have entered squads, while the NOBS and sods will fill out the 2 other sides; The Green Doyle’s and Yellow Mellow Crossfields.   Try to be dressed and ready for 11:30, so we can arrange our 2 squads.  Things get underway at high noon!   There is also going to be 2 touch games between the tackle games, each session about 15 minutes.  A suggestion has been made that if we get the  numbers we could have 2 over 55’s, games of 10’s, instead of touch.  Great opportunity for the real  “olde boys” to strut, their stuff.   Come out, come out where ever you are.

There will be more on the 10’s in the next few days.  Da Thug

Kawartha Krocks are playing the Buffalo Old Boys on Sat. Sept. 28th and then going as a group to the Buffalo Bills-Baltimore Ravens game the next day. We only have 15 players committed right now....mostly couples, & some singles & alakadoos going. We have a block of hotel rooms for the Saturday night reserved in Buffalo, just being held until this coming Saturday. So, extra spots/extra Bills tickets are available but we'd need to hear from you by this Saturday if you want a hotel room. If you just want to come for the old boys game on the Saturday, or the Bills game on Sunday, that's doable too.  Please pass this offer on to your guys too.

Let me know!

NOBS WORLD LABOUR DAY REPORT

Good afternoon to everyone one in the NOBS World.  Hope your enjoying the holiday.  Next Sunday we are back in action at home against the GITS.  Always a lot of trouble when that crowd shows up.  From now until November the 10th, there is a game, with the  exception of Thanksgiving.

I have enclosed an up-dated schedule, which I hope everyone will take time to look over.  There are a few things you should take note of.  On October the 2nd, a Wednesday evening, we are playing our annual fixture with the Staff College at the Cru at 7pm.  This is a very popular fixture and because of that we would like to make sure every NOB gets a chance to play.  The past 2 years have seen us with 30+ players on the side lines.  We are going to limit the roster to 22 players.   I would like to hear your intentions by Sept 23rd ctmorley@cogeco.ca , before we open it to other players.

On December 8th we are going to have a NOBS CHRISTMAS TOUCH TOURNAMENT, followed by a Christmas Party in which we would love to see all the kids, wives, grandparents you name it.  We have put in a notice to see if we can arrange a visit by Santa.  More on this event as the date gets closer.

Oh yes; I know someone is going to ask.  The tournament is "outside" on the artificial turf.

Pope John has asked me to send out another reminder that week night touch, now gets under way at 6:30  to take advantage of the light.

Please check the attachment and if you see anything that's doesn't make sense, let me know.

See you out for touch, and of course next Sunday.
