NOBS WORLD CHRISTMAS CAROL SINGING

Good morning rugby fans across the Nobs World.  Tomorrow is the first day of December, with Christmas not far ahead.  I have received a note from Barry Hyslop announcing the upcoming Christmas Carol singing on December 16th; only 2 weeks from this Friday.   Before we get to that, last Friday was the annual awards night.  It was a fun filled night where we passed out this year’s awards, roasted Kevin Bloska and topped it off with a rousing rugby sing song.  This year’s winners were Brad Thomas as rookie of the year.   Eric Andrae as Nob of the Year, and Clarence Brown winning the coveted Clubman Of The Year.  Many thanks to Chris Mant, Rolf Thomas, Jack Morrison, Dave Tait and our MC. for the evening; Bob Nye.   Let’s not forget the lovely bar staff of the Burlington Centaurs.   Now let’s hear from Barry.  Remember folks, the Carol Night is just over 2 weeks away and Barry needs to know the numbers of who will attend.

From: Barry Hyslop

Craig, please let it be known to the NOBS that a bus will be going to Toronto (St Andrews) carol singing on 16th Dec, 2011.
We will be Leaving The Plough at 18.00, sharp. We will be picking up people from Tim Horton's at Winston Churchill Blvd at 18.30ish.
Please direct e-mails to me barryhyslop@hotmail.com  so that I can get numbers. Margaret Foster, as always, will be our driver (elf).

Barbarians vs Australia Cancelled / Cancelled

Sorry Folks

Long weekend in the States. Nobody at home to take our order so
regrettably no feed. Alternatively there is a delayed broadcast on Setanta TV
channel around 1.30 pm Saturday (for those that subscribe) so I am told.

Thank you to all those who reponded , the numbers were good but as you can
appreciate for a "one off" game we had to be sure it was worth opening the doors
before placing the order.

Our show has been cancelled.

NOBS WORLD NOVEMBER 15TH

Good afternoon rugby fans throughout the Nobs World.  Last Sunday, longtime Nob, Dave Tait experienced discomfort while playing touch and under the advisement of the Nobs team doctor he had himself  taken to hospital to be checked out.  We are pleased to report that Dave says he is fine and will be rejoining us on the pitch shortly.  Rumours spread quickly up in the bar that he was trying to duck out on the $5 match fee.  All joking aside if you’re out running around and start experiencing chest pains or difficulty in breathing please get yourself checked out ASAP.  Over the past year we had 2 incidents where 2 of our fellows out running touch and experienced extreme discomfort had had heart attacks!  They are both doing much better now but things could have been different.  So ends the sermon.

Touch is on Sundays at 1pm.  Last Sunday we had a great turnout, but there is always room for more.  Don’t forget soccer is on in the gym in Burlington on Tuesday evenings at 7pm.  Tickets are on sale right now for the awards night on November 25.  See Jack Morrison or any executive for tickets.  It will be a great night of rugby.  See you on the pitch, Da Thug.

NOBS WORLD NOVEMBER 12TH

Good morning rugby fans.  Just a reminder that touch is under way on Sundays, in Burlington at 1pm.   We are outside on the artificial surface.   The cost is $5 a session.  Tickets are now on sale for the Nobs Awards Night on November 25th at 7pm in the Burlington Centaurs Clubhouse.   Tickets are $25.  Get yourself off the couch Sunday and we will see you on the pitch, Da Thug

NOBS WORLD NOV 9TH 2011

Good afternoon rugby fans, where ever you are in the Nobs World.  The season came to an end last Sunday at the Cru.  What’s that?  Who won?   Under ideal conditions at the Cru the 4th annual East vs. West game was played.  Turn out for the event was good as the game was played under sunny skies, with temperatures in the mid-teens.  There was cause for celebration as rugby good guy; Mark Radwanski celebrated his 60th birthday and was presented with red shorts before the match!  Afterwards the Cru balcony was packed as the post-game celebration moved outside.  So; who won?  Rugby was the real winner, as it should be.

As one door closes, one opens as our winter program is now underway.  Tuesday, it’s soccer in the gym at Burlington.  Thursday, it’s touch in the dome, and Sunday’s it outside on the artificial turf for touch.  That gets underway at 1pm with a $5 fee.   You have probably already heard that our Annual Awards night is Friday November the 25th up in the Burlington Centaurs Clubhouse.  This event gets underway at 7pm.  The cost is $25 with limited seating.  See your executive for tickets.  See you on the pitch, Da Thug

NOBS Year-end Player's Dinner and Awards Night

Good Afternoon All,
How the season flies by! I would like to send out a huge thank you to the
many individuals that contributed to another sensational year of rugby. In
particular, Craig Morley and Peter Allan for putting together a steady
stream of great fixtures.
It is that time to celebrate the season with our Player's Dinner.
Activities include the awards presentation, curry dinner, roast (one really
lucky sole) and of course back by popular demand, the sing-song of all your
rugby tunes. Poker will follow for those interested.
Once again it will be held in the Centaurs clubhouse on Friday, November
25th starting at 7pm. There are limited tickets (45) and we hope to
accommodate all those able to attend. Please see Rolf Thomas or Jack
Morrison for your tickets. The cost remains a bargain at $25.
Don't miss out on this spectacular evening!
Cheers
Chris Mant

NOBS WORLD NOV 4TH 2011

Good afternoon rugby fans all across the Nobs World.  Pablo has asked me to remind everyone of our final game of the year this Sunday at 1pm at the Cru.   If getting beaten up by your friends doesn’t appeal to you, there is touch on the artificial turf in Burlington at 1pm this Sunday and every Sunday until next April.  The cost is $5 a week, a bargain at twice the price.  Soccer is now on every Tuesday in the gym in Burlington from 7 to 8 pm.  One last thing tickets are to go on sale shortly for our end of season awards night, which is to be held on Friday, November 25th.  That’s it!  Please don’t let Pablo down.  See you on the pitch Sunday, Da Thug.

NOBS WORLD NOVEMBER 3RD 2011

Good afternoon to one and all in the Nobs World.  I just got off the telephone with the Weather Network and despite the overcast skies we currently are experiencing it looks like the next 3 days should be sunny  and temperatures in the low teens, leading up to Sundays, East vs. West game at 1pm at Crusaders Park in Oakville.  Come on out as this is our 4th annual affair and one last kick at the can.  The first 2 games were won in closely fought battles but last year; oh the shame!   The West was up by 4 trys with only 20 minutes to go and the East scored 4 unanswered trys.  The game ended in a draw but you wouldn’t know that from our East friends in the bar.  Pack the sun screen along with your kit and we will see you on the pitch, da Thug
