NOBS News: FW: East West Game Sunday, October 30

Just a reminder about the E/W game this Sunday @1:00.  See information below.  This is an all comers game, and we have festival coverage.  So you are covered!

This past Saturday was a good outing up at Fletchers with 30ish players taking the windy field.  What was great about the game were the new faces out for the over 35 game.  Hopefully, we will see some of these faces again!  Our NOBS side was definitely lacking defence, it could be we have more forwards than backs.  So the real backs on our side had to work with what they had.  Personally, I have a new appreciation for full backs as I was trying to channel my inner Tony Windsor, but it was not happening!  One of the more interesting contest of the day was between RayH. and DaveM. who were battling for the GITS 2016 scoring crown.   Well we kept it interesting, not sure who came out on top?  Attached is a picture of the motley crew that took to the field.    Thanks to Jason Currie who made the suggestion to play up at Fletchers, helped secure the field, recruited a few players, and got the ref. - he might turn out ok after all.

What: Old Boys East West Game (Insured through Rugby Canada, you don't need to be registered to play)

When: 1:00pm

Why: Why not?! The final game of the year for most of us!

Hello everyone,

We have firmed up a field for Saturday Oct 22 for a game at Fletcher’s.  Now it is time to firm up the numbers!  As of this moment ,we have about 10-12 confirmed, but I have not heard from a good number of people yet.  Tentatively, we are schedule to KO @9:00 am – we have asked for a later start time, but we will get what we get.  I will know for sure early in the week if we are able to move the KO time.  It is Cup Day at Fletcher’s, so if you play well at our game maybe you will get the call for later in the day!

Thanks to the quick responders.  But, we need enough "YES” confirmed players by Tuesday or we will need to call the game.

There will be an all comers 15 a side game in Burlington on Sunday September 25th at 1:00pm.
We have around 8 Silverbacks confirmed so far. There will be enough players for two full sides on hand.

Due to personal matters, I unfortunately won't be able to make it. Let me know if I can send the jerseys with anyone. You can drop them off dirty at the end of the day and I will take care of cleaning.

Spread the word. Please arrive for 12:30pm so teams can be organized.

This week on Sunday, June 12  at Sherwood Park, Burlington, 1:00 KO against Bruce County.  Bruce County puts out a good side and deserve a good game.  I would like to extend an invitation to GITs and Silverbacks to join us this weekend in Burlington.  If you want a game (could be for either side!) we would be glad to have you join us.  So let me know if you are available.  A simple YES will do to phil.gray@cogeco.ca to indicate your availability.
