FW: NOBS WORLD; A TRIBUTE TO DAVE BURNETT

Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen.  Since the word came out

last Saturday on the passing of Dave we have received an

explosion of emails like never before.  Daily tributes come in about

Dave; it is quite humbling.  We are so privileged to have know Dave

and shared time on earth with him.  In Dave’s obituary, in the Hamilton

Spectator there was a line in it that made me chuckle and at the same time

it summed him up perfectly.  “David was also a fanatical rugby player and

will be sorely missed.”  Yes he will be missed.  Dave had a life long love

affair with rugby and rugby loved him back.  I know we all did.

Last Sunday 40 something rugby players gather in Burlington to play

touch rugby in a tribute to Dave.  There was pushing and shoving,

finger pointing, accusations, and just plain cheating.  Dave would have

loved it.  It was expected that there would have been a larger crowd than

normal up in the bar, but it was packed.

This Saturday, the 9th there will be a celebration of David’s life at the Burlington

Centaurs Rugby Club, 5278 Fairview St; starting at 1pm.  Come out an celebrate

the life of our Super Gnome.  I would like to close this with an email I received

from Phil Walton.  “Of all the great immortals that made up the old boys….he

was the most immortal to me.  Just unbelievable.”
