Good evening to everyone in the NOBS World; where ever this may find you. Well we got the second half of the season off in fine style yesterday afternoon. Under clear, sunny skies, the temperature finally easing away from the melting point, field in great shape and the Lancaster bomber, rumbling by in the distance, we got back to playing rugby again.
There were GITS, XLS and lads from Markham in town to do battle. The score went back and forth, finishing with an exhausted Ted Ota scoring a late try for the NOBS! Who won you ask? Why it was rugby, of course.
The "Man of the Match" this week as chosen by the NOBS went to a worthy recipient. Saturday he played for his club side, injuring himself and having to be carted off to hospital. But come Sunday, Peter Kijak answered the call of rugby and refereed the match, in his usual top drawer style. Nicely dressed for the occasion I might say.
There are those who might challenge that choice though!? The post game spread as provided by chef Chuck Schandl could have earned him Man of the Match had it not been handed just moments before we got to tuck into his Indian buffet! Great stuff Chuck.
This coming Sunday it is the NOBS 10 a-side tournament. Things get under way at noon, but we are always looking for volunteers, and of course come out and be ready to go on time. On the menu this week, it will be Peter Allan's, Credit Valley Slow Smoked, pulled pork! You've got to be there to taste this.
See you on the pitch this Sunday, Da Thug
