NOBS WORLD SEPTEMBER 28TH 2012

Good morning to everyone in the NOBS World.  Last weekend in September.

This Sunday we are off to Sunnybrook Park in Toronto to play the Gits.  We are leaving

Burlington at 11:30 sharp!   Sunnybrook Park is at the north west corner of Leslie St.

and Eglinton.  Just west of the Don Valley Parkway.  We will be wearing our yellow strip.

Kickoff is set for 1pm.

Touch, as always will be run in Burlington at 1pm.  Speaking of touch we are now running

Tuesday and Thursday at 6:15pm, but we can always start earlier as soon as we have the bodies.

I have included today an updated fixtures list.  Please note the changes.  October 10th we play

the Staff College.  October 21st the game is now in Brampton.  The Cup Day game is now on

Saturday, the 27th and the grand finale, East vs. West game is November 4th.  We are still undecided

on the game for October 14th.  We hope to have this resolved shortly.

We have received news this morning, that Chris Mant has been hospitalized from what we

understand to be complications due to a shoulder injury.

See you at Sunnybrook Sunday,  Da Thug

NOBS WORLD SEPTEMBER 27TH 2012& Sat. Oct 6

Good afternoon folks, all across the NOBS World. A few thing for a Thursday afternoon.

There is an email below from John Noble at jnoble1@bell.net about an upcoming Rugby

League game in Toronto.  If you’re interested, let John know.

Don’t forget this Sundays game against the GITS  this at Toronto’s Sunnybrook Park.

Come out, come out, where ever you are!  We will be carpooling from Burlington, “leaving

at 11:30”   sharp!

Touch is also on in Burlington at 1pm.

There are still some of you who have yet to pick up your new jersey.  Some of you have

already paid for them, a number of you haven’t.  Don’t make us name, names.

We mentioned this earlier in the week, that touch is getting underway at 6:15pm to

take advantage of the light.

See you on the pitch, Da Thug

Hi again Craig

Just noticed that Wagjag has an offer for 50% off tickets to the Canada vs England Rugby League game on Saturday, October 6.  Each ticket is $6.00 and the game is at 7:00 p.m. at Lamport Stadium (King and Dufferin area).  Some of the lads might be interested.  If enough interest, perhaps we can arrange a bus.   Can you forward this please.  Thanks.

FW: Peterborough

Good afternoon to everyone in the NOBS World. Attached is Peter Allan'
recap of yesterday's game in Peterborough.

The Krock's are regular visitors of ours. They come down year after year,
almost always with a full squad and spares.

Yesterday we had seven players show up in Peterborough. I know we have
players out with injuries, and those with
work commitments, but we should easily be able to field a team.

To all of you who made it there, well done.

This Sunday we are on the road again to play the GITS at Sunnybrook Park.
We are carpooling from Burlington, leaving
at 11:30 am. Please be on time. If you need instructions to Sunnybrook we
can get them.

The GIT players have been out to every home fixture, we have had this year.
We owe it to them to arrive at Sunnybrook
with a full complement of players.

I will see you in the Burlington car park on Sunday or at the pitch in
Toronto, DA Thug

Sorry----we've had a change of venue----don't ask me how we get kicked off our own home field but there is a college double-header now at Nicholls , so we're going to play our game at Thomas A Stewart Sceondary School (our 2nd pitch) just down the road at 1009 Armour Road North----same time tomorrow.

Same directions as I gave you before as far as coming into Ptbo...115 to Hwy 7 bypass towards ottawa, cross lansdowne onto tv road, right on parkhill, but as you come in Parkhill Rd, turn right on Armour and go North on Armour Road and TAS is a couple of km up on the left across from the golf course.

Our apologies for any inconvenience. We look forward to seeing our NOB friends!

NOBS WORLD "START THINKING ABOUT THE DOME"

Good morning rugby fans, on this last full day of summer.  Don’t forget, there’s

rugby in Peterborough this Sunday, and touch will also be run in Burlington.

Speaking of touch, were just over a month away of moving into the dome.  Something

new this winter, we have the dome on Tuesdays from 7 to 8pm.  Plans are for soccer on

Tuesdays and rugby on Thursdays.   All the details will be coming shortly from Jack

Morrison.   Keep in mind that there are only so many spots available for the dome, with

a priority given to those who played last year first.  When the call goes up for signing up,

only payment will insure your spot.  A deadline will be set for sign up, and after that we will

open it up to new comers. Don’t say you were not warned!  Once again this winter we

have secured the artificial turf for our Sunday run around.

While we’re on the topic of touch, I have been asked to mention that maybe we should

shoot for coming out for a 6:30 start to take advantage of what light we have.  The earlier

we are out, the earlier we can get going.

We now have a confirmation of the game on September 30th.  We will be heading to

Sunnybrook Park in Toronto to do battle with the GITS.  Saturday, October 27th on Cup Day,

we will be playing in Markham, with an early am start.  More on this when the time is made

available.  Wednesday, October 10th, we will host the Staff College at the Cru.  As soon as we have an updated fixtures list we will pass it on to you.

See you on the pitch, Da Thug

NOBS WORLD, SEPTEMBER 20TH, 2012 DIRECTIONS TO YOUR PITCH

Good morning rugby fans, where ever you are in the NOBS World.  Chris Mant mentioned yesterday that carpooling is forming up, at Burlington at 10:30am to travel to Peterborough.   This will be spearheaded by our favourite team mate Pablo. pmalacara@msn.com.  If you have any questions; he’s your man.  Whether your carpooling or travelling on your own, below are instructions on how to get to Nichols Oval.  Da Thug

Corner of Armour Road and Parkhill Road....best to come in Hwy 115 and take the Hwy 7 Bypass toward Ottawa and then instead of veering right to Hwy 7 at Lansdowne Street, (to Ottawa), keep going straight on through the lights onto Telelvision Road. At 4-way stop at Parkhill and TV Road, turn left and follow to Armour Road...turn left on Armour and right into the park.

Cheers,

EH

P.S. Therer is a college gamne on the pitch at 3:00 so if we can be timely around the 1:00 start, that will give the college lads time to warm-up on the pitch. thx.

Please send up ASAP as we need 10 registered applicants for the Team designation.

Go to the website www.runforthecure.com

Go to Team Registration and Click on Burlington

Team name: Burlington Centaurs

http://www.runforthecure.com/site/TR?fr_id=1429&pg=entry

Also I would like to order some pink T-shirts with Blue Centaur logo so that we can run united together as a team. Need players & friends to sign up ASAP in order to have the T-shirts ordered by next week.

This is a team bonding opportunity not necessarily a race to the finish.

For those not able to attend, please donate to your fellow Centaurs who will be participating.

arrive early, get dressed and ready to ruck!   The referees are all booked,

NOBS 10 ASIDE

Gentlemen. please forward this to your club lists.

NOBS WORLD, SEPTEMBER 10, 2012

Good evening to everyone in the NOBS World; where ever this may find you.  Well we got the second half of the season off in fine style yesterday afternoon.  Under clear, sunny skies, the temperature finally easing away from the melting point, field in great shape and the Lancaster bomber, rumbling by in the distance, we got back to playing rugby again.

There were GITS, XLS and lads from Markham in town to do battle.  The score went back and forth, finishing with an exhausted Ted Ota scoring a late try for the NOBS!  Who won you ask?  Why it was rugby, of course.

The "Man of the Match" this week as chosen by the NOBS went to a worthy recipient.  Saturday he played for his club side, injuring himself and having to be carted off to hospital.  But come Sunday, Peter Kijak answered the call of rugby and refereed the match, in his usual top drawer style.  Nicely dressed for the occasion I might say.

There are those who might challenge that choice though!?  The post game spread as provided by chef Chuck Schandl could have earned him Man of the Match had it not been handed just moments before we got to tuck into his Indian buffet!   Great stuff Chuck.

This coming Sunday it is the NOBS 10 a-side tournament.  Things get under way at noon, but we are always looking for volunteers, and of course come out and be ready to go on time.  On the menu this week, it will be Peter Allan's, Credit Valley Slow Smoked, pulled pork!  You've got to be there to taste this.

See you on the pitch this Sunday, Da Thug

NOBS WORLD SEPTEMBER 3RD 2012 "START THINKING ABOUT THE GAME"

Yes sir, that's what our old fearless leader; The Emperor for life, Mel Crossfield  would be saying as the leisurely days of August turn to September; "start thinking about the game!"  This coming Sunday we travel to Brampton to start the second half of the season.  Kickoff is 1pm.  The next Sunday, September 16th we are home for the NOBS 10 aside tournament, that starts at 12pm.  As in past years we would like everyone dressed and ready to go for 11:30am.  On the 23rd we will be travelling to Peterborough, while the game on the 30th is TBA.  Lets get ready to rumble.  The new 30th Anniversary jerseys are in and if you have already paid, let me know and I will get you yours.
Now for the rest of you, please check out the photo  below of the less than savory character we've hired to help us collect our depts.

Do I need to say more?   Lets just say; we'll be in touch.

Received an email below from one of the greats of GTA Rugby, former Irish and NOB player, Geoff Ellwan.  He sends us along an invitation to a Balmy Beach Rugby Banquet and a message to all his old NOBS friends.

I will be out Thursday night with the new jerseys, Da Thug
