Season ending game

Winter touch is to start this Sunday in Burlington at 1pm, as we played our final fixture, The East/West game. .........Hold on; I am being handed a dispatch from one of our agents in the field and we have a game with one of our oldest opposition, The Staff College. The game will be Tuesday, November 4th at 7pm, at the Cru. We will only have so many roster spots, with first choice going to our regular players. If are interested in playing, please contact me at camorley09@gmail.com. The deadline for our regulars is October 31st. After that it is first come first served, with a priority given to those who have already played with us this season. You will be disappointed if you show up on the night of the game and are not on our roster. You can also let me know this Thursday at training. Da Thug

Just another reminder, that there is a live band / Pub Night in the Centaurs Clubhouse, featuring our own James Ferris.  Shaping up to be a great evening. 

 

This Sunday, touch is being run at the Cru at the same time as the East / West game.  Kickoff for both is 1pm.  Green Jerseys will be the attire for the game.  This is an XL sponsored event and a chance to experience the culinary skills of Chuck Schandl.  You won't be DISAPPOINTED.

 

One other thing; we are still hoping to play the Staff College on Tuesday, November 4^th.  This game will be at the CRU.  As soon as we know; you'll know.

Really the big news is our upcoming game this Sunday, but first one more kick at the Dome touch can.

If you are coming out tonight, of course you need a white and dark shirt.  As always.  But if you are bringing along your dome fees; please if possible bring along a cheque payable to the NOBS RFC.  No; not Kevin Bloska.

 

 

This Sunday, at East York Collegiate, at 1pm we are playing the GITS, along with the Silverbacks.  Green Jerseys will be the order of the day.  Google East York Collegiate for driving instructions.  Please allow for road closures.  This is a great venue and always a good time.

There will be Martin Blake the Enforcer.

Robbie "the Wall Street Lee" and much more.

 

After that its over to one my personal post game hang outs; The Kilt and Harp

Ladies and gentlemen.  Thursday night Under The Dome starts tonight; don't forget a white and dark t-shirt.  Very important!

 

Our chief financial officer and our President have reminded me that  your spot is only as secure as your payment.  We have a number of people on our waiting list who are more than willing to ante up the dome fees, and in some case, social dues as well to start playing.  I know that there are a few of you who will be playing , but at this time are not available to pay or play.  I will honour those exceptions, but we will be looking for payment first time you are out.  The rest of you, payment is due.

Fwd: Ottawa Over 50's

Good afternoon to everyone in the NOBS World, on this Thanksgiving day 2014.  Hope everyone is having a pleasant day.  Dave Tait has sent along an email from Peter Maitland letting everyone know that there is an over 50's game in Ottawa this coming Sunday, October 19th. Peter can be found at petermaitland@primus.ca. 

 Tomorrow evening is the start of the Tuesday Dome sessions, running from 7pm to 8pm.  Now a few things for everyone who will be in the Dome, either Tuesday or Thursday.  We have to be ready to go for 7pm.  We have only one hour, so let's not waste time.  Please bring a white and dark t-shirt.  This is very important.  Footwear.  I have been reminded that only running shoes or molded cleats are acceptable.  Studded cleats can not be used.  

I will send out a complete list of our Dome laws, but some very important things to keep in mind. Any ball that goes to ground is a turnover.  There is no live ball.  No kicking is permitted.  The runner must return to the point of touch,  and defenders must retreat 6 feet.  When a touch is made within 6 feet of the goal line, the ball can be played from the point of touch, but it must go back 6ft, before it can be taken over the goal line.  There seemed to be some confusion last year, in that some people thought the ball had to go back 6 feet, before it could be advanced.  If the ball does not go back 6 feet and is taken over the goal line it will result in a turnover.  

Remember we are playing touch.  We will be employing a yellow card system this year, more on this in the near future.  It's not the World Cup, let's have fun.  

Don't forget this coming Sunday, game in Toronto, at 1 PM; at East York Collegiate.

On October 19^th we are travelling to Toronto to play the GITS at East York Collegiate at 1pm.  More on this early next week.  On Sunday October 26^th the XL'S are hosting the East / West game at the Cru at 1pm.  More on this also later.

What the heck are you guys thinking?  When I said "NO TOUCH TONIGHT" I meant we will not be running are usual Tuesday night touch tonight.  Next week we are in the dome.  Still some Tuesday spots available.

 

 

This coming Thursday, there is touch and we will be running under the lights, over on the baseball diamonds, from 7pm to 9pm, at the bargain basement price of $5. 

 

This coming Sunday is the Thanksgiving weekend and despite no game, we will be running touch at 1pm.

Good afternoon to all of you rugby enthusiast's across the NOBS World.  A bunch of little bits to pass on to you, so here goes.

 

Don't forget this Sundays game in Burlington, with the Silverbacks in town.  This fixture and touch get underway at 1pm.  WE WILL BE WEARING OUR GREEN JERSEYS!!  Sorry for shouting.  

 

Speaking of touch, this coming Thursday October 9^th is going to be a special evening.  No, not because it is Nick's, Chuck's, Tim and Craig's birthday.   It's our last Thursday outside until next spring and to mark the occasion we will have lights to run under.  From 7pm until 9pm, we will be under the lights, over on the baseball diamonds.  Just like the old days before the Dome.  Cost is only $5.   Come on out.  

 

We now have a final cost for this year's dome sessions.   Each night will be $150.  A raise of $10, to cover our costs.  Thanks to all of you who have got back to me, and thanks to all of you who have paid.  Remember our deadline for signing up is October 10^th.

 

One last item.  There will be "NO" touch run around this coming Tuesday, October 7^th.

Good morning to everyone in the NOBS World.  Here we are already in the month of October.  What happened to summer!  We received an email here at  the NOBS World Headquarters from our friends Nigel and Katarina Morgan, living their retirement days in Spain, giving us an update on Katarina's condition.  She would love to hear from you.  Get well Katarina! 

 

As we move deeper into autumn, our daylight is becoming less and less.  There are only 2 more Thursdays outside, so try to get things going at 6:30pm or sooner.  Starting  Tuesday, October 14^th we are heading back under the Dome.  We have ½ the dome while the Centaurs have the other half.  There are 24 spots, with some of them still available.  If you are planning on playing Tuesday, I need to hear from you at camorley09@gmail.com.   Thursday, October 16^th we are back under the dome.  There are still some spots available.  Please do not assume that you played last year and are signed up for this year.  I need to hear from you if you plan to play.  Cost for each evening is $140; subject to change.  October 10^th is the cutoff day to get yourself on the list and then we open things up to our waiting list.  So ends the sermon.

 

  This Sunday, we are hosting the Silverbacks & friends at 1pm.   There is also touch going on at the same time. This is a call out to all of you players, to get yourself down Sunday to play.  Let's make this a well-attended event.

Friends,

 

I'm sending the same e-mail to all who reached out to Katarina during her awful ordeal. I can't emphasize the contribution you made to Katarina's recovery. Each best wish and support that I read to her made her cry but it also strengthened her resolve to get better. My gosh, I now know who is the real toughie in our family!

The doctors have been amazed at her progress. Gone are the bandages to her ear, neck, chest and hands. Very pink and very patchy, but time will take care of that. Kats shoulder and arm were of concern and require constant attention but we've been told that she can come home as long as she goes to the out-patients to have the dressings changed and monitored. The care in the hospital was amazing, the Kat even liked the food. The staff didn't speak a word of English but they loved Kats Spanish with her "Canadian accent".

By the time we visit Canada next year she will be like new!
