NOBS WORLD NEWS UPDATE.

Ladies and gentlemen, a few updates.

 

Last call for tickets to the Awards Night this Friday, the 29^th.   I have been informed by Rolf Thomas rolfthomas@live.com that there are still a few spots available.  Let him know and we’ll see you Friday.

 

Maybe it’s a sign of the times and people are busy with other things but we are going to have to cancel a couple of our planned Christmas events, due to a lack of response. 

 

The Carol Sing in Toronto is still on Friday December 13^th and many NOBS will still be going; but we will not be running a bus there as planned.  You can get in touch with John Noble at johnbevnoble@icloud.com for information on the event.

 

We are very sorry to announce that our planned Christmas party on Sunday December 8^th is going to also be cancelled.  It might be re-scheduled, but at this time we are not sure.

Good morning to everyone in the NOBS World; hope I got your attention. AWARDS NIGHT

NOBS WORLD NOVEMBER 15TH 2013

Good afternoon to everyone all across the NOBS World.  Two things on a Friday afternoon [Well probably three.] 

 

1.    Friday November the 29^th  is the NOBS annual awards night.  Scrumptious Indian dinner, awards presentation, tall tales and a rousing rugby sing song to wrap things up.  Who will be able to top Derek Wiggins, and his musical contribution, last year?  Cost is only $30, doors open at 6:30 pm.  Tickets are now on sale and will be available this Sunday.  You can book your reservation at  ctmorley@cogeco.ca

2.    Sunday, December the 8^th, there is going to be a Rugby Christmas party in the Centaurs Clubhouse.   Santa will be on hand to see all the kids, along with Christmas carols and festive holiday snacks. 

 What we are proposing is that Santa will give out gifts to children 11years and younger.  The parents of these children who want to participate are to bring along a gift for their children, not exceeding $20 in value.  Label them in large print and Santa will do the rest.  If you would like to join in let me know at ctmorley@cogeco.ca Of course all family members are welcome; older children, grandparents, aunts, girlfriends, boyfriends; you name it. We would love to pack the place.

 

3.    I did say three things.  Don’t forget touch this and every Sunday at 1pm.

Please send out a note regarding the Annual Xmas Carol Sing on Friday, December 13.  A bus will be leaving the Plough and Harrow at 5:30 sharp with another pickup at the Tim Horton's/Wendy's plaza at the southwest corner of the QEW and Winston Churchill at 6:00.  The Carol Sing starts at 7:00 o'clock this year.  The cost for the bus is a mere $10 per rider.  This is the one of the first events to fill you with the Xmas spirit so let's fill the bus this year.  Please let John Noble know in person or by email (note new email below!) if you are planning to join us on the bus.  As always, beverages will be available at The Elephant and Castle before a 10-10:30 return.

NOBS WORLD NOVEMBER 14TH 2013

Good morning to everyone in the NOBS World, where ever you are.  I was asked to mention a memorial service for our old friend Keith Grant who passed away recently.  There is a memorial service for Keith tomorrow, November 15 from 1 to 3pm in the Sherwood Forest Park, Dome #1.  Keith requested that no suit and ties be allowed and attendees bring their own lawn chair, as well as a food donation for the Christmas hamper, a smile and a hug.   Expressions of sympathy donations to the Carpenter Hospice would be appreciated by his family. 

 

Don’t forget that touch is on this Sunday and every Sunday, outside on the artificial turf at Sherwood Forest, from 1 to 2:30pm.  $5 match fee to help pay for the field. 

 

Two events are getting closer.  November 29^th is our awards night.  I will have more information on that for you tomorrow.   December 8^th at 3pm there is to be a Rugby Christmas party in the Centaurs Clubhouse.  There will be more information on this in the near future, but you can count on one thing; Santa Claus will be coming to town.

TOUCH

Ladies and gentlemen.  Yesterday evening I sent out an email to our Thursday touch group.  If you are playing touch on Thursdays and did “NOT” receive it, please let me know.  This will be the last time we use our general list to communicate with Thursday touch players.  If you are a referee and did not receive the email, also let me know. 

 

We are still looking for those who would like to join us Tuesday evenings for touch and soccer.  If you are interested please let us know.

 

With the end of the season out of the way and the International game, Sunday touch will be now running every Sunday, until April, from 1pm to 2:30.  At the bargain price of $5.  Come on out, and keep your fitness razor sharp.

FW: 2013 Rugby Ontario Hall of Fame - David Burnett "TUESDAY TOUCH & SOCCER"

Good morning to everyone in the NOBS World on this first day of November.  We have some great news to announce as former NOB member Dave Burnett is to be inducted into Rugby Ontario Hall of Fame.  Congratulations go out from the NOBS to the Burnett family.

 

I have been asked to mention that there are still spots available for Tuesday evening touch & soccer.  The session has only been underway for a few weeks and there is still lots of time left in the Tuesday Dome season.  The run around is from 7pm to 8pm.   The cost is $140, or just over $5 a week.  If your interested contact Rolf Thomas at rolfthomas@live.com or John Noble at jnoble1@bell.net .

Dave Burnett enters the HoF in the Builder category and joins other Centaur  RO Hall of Fame members David Swift(2003), John Guilfoyle(2003)and Monty Heald(2004).

The other members of the HoF 2013 class are Trevor Jones, Allen Piggott, and John Reich.

 

The Induction ceremony and awards dinner will be held December 7 at the Delta Toronto East Hotel in Scarborough, On. See the attached press release for dinner details and inductee bios.

 

I am sure there will be a number of Centaurs and Nobs wanting to attend so please let me know and I will send RO an order for tickets ($750 for 10 seat table or $85 single ticket).
