Don’t forget folks, touch tournament in Burlington this Sunday at 1pm.
Been having requests for a Cricket review from last Sunday. Our resident cricket expert Rolf Thomas, has provided us with a riveting report on the game.
See you Sunday, Da Thug
From: R Thomas Cricket ?
We stood and watched , then they stood and
watched. Then suddenly someone said all the "Overs"
were over, so we went upstairs and had beer and
sandwiches and a jolly good time was had by all.
Good afternoon to everyone in the NOBS World. The clubs executive met recently to set the wheels in motion for our winter touch program and our tour to England in late September /early October 2015 to go to the Rugby World Cup.
Plans for the tour are in the early stages, but we are trying to establish who plans on going. To date we have 26 players signed up. What we are looking for now is a totally refundable $300 deposit by October 31st to confirm your place. At that time we will see who is going and then decide on when and if we need to open spots on the tour to others.
As we move towards this date there will be further reminders and updates. Currently we are looking at a 10 to 14 day tour, taking in 2-3 games and play at least 2 games. Stay tuned
Winter touch in the dome begins near the end of October. As we did last year we have the dome Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 7 to 8pm. We also will have the dome on Sundays, from 1pm to 2:30. The cost for Sunday is $5 a week. Shortly we will have this seasons rate, but please note, a social membership is required to play. If you played last season you have first shot at joining up. Very shortly we will post the winter rates and begin registration.
Give some thought to the tour and if you have any questions or want to have your name put on the list you can contact John Noble at jnoble1@bell.net or Craig Morley at ctmorley@cogeco.ca. Also keep in mind we have a limited number of spots for the dome and your spot is only guaranteed with your winter dues.

Good afternoon to everyone in the NOBS World; where ever you are. This Sunday, we are expecting a warm sunny day, perfect for cricket, which gets under way at 1pm. The powers to be would like you to turn up at 12:30 to get the days event organized.
I have been receiving all kinds of inquiries on how last weekend events played out. Below is an email from John Moyes Guilfoyle on last Fridays soccer.
The golf was played last Sunday at Burlington’s Cedar Springs Golf Course, with a three some of Jimmy & Caroline Anderson and Andrew Gaydon taking the best ball tournament with a score of 70!! Well done.
Longest drive for the ladies was Jean King, while Tiger Keith McIntyre grabbed the men’s.!!!
Closest to the pin for ladies was Brenda Clark, while Jimmy Anderson collected even more silver ware, taking the men’s division.
Jack Morrison once again did a great job I am told organizing the event. Thanks Jack
Next Sunday, August 25th we are planning a touch event. TBA
Have a nice weekend, Da Thug

Subject: Game 2: So close!
On Friday we played the second game of the annual NOBS vs BOTSC challenge, and this was very well played. With the core of the team from last month, the players were much more disciplined. We knew, relatively speaking, that we were fitter than the opposition, but this time we played smarter and let the ball do the work.
Our strike force was again Andrew, but now with Tony Windsor, not only feeding the forwards but covering back to help out the often beleaguered defence. Again the mid field was anchored by Dave Findley.
Throughout the game we had an amazing number of shots on goal, but many were straight at the opposing goal keeper, and a record number over the bar! If we had been playing Gaelic football and got a point for each ball over the bar, we would have killed them.
Luckily their strikers looked like they were playing rugby and also skied the ball. We were very unfortunate to present the soccer guys with two easy goals, but our last minute goal brought the final tally to 3-1, in favour of the round ball team. A very solid game by the mid field, including Nick Parkes, Johnny Griff and of course the Eastern Dynamo, Ted.
Thanks to all who supported the team, and next year we will be ready for them!
John Moyes Guilfoyle.
Cricket not enough action for you this weekend? The Burlington Centaurs are looking for players this Saturday and are offering up a free admission to the Ontario Blues / Atlantic Rock Canadian rugby championships. Let Barry Goldberg know at bgoldberg1@cogeco.ca ..

Good afternoon everyone. I had some requests today about the Peterborough Platinum Oldies that are being held on Saturday August 17th. Here it is. Da Thug
Hi All,
Hope everyone is having an enjoyable start to the summer. Attached is the flyer for this year's Platinum Oldies Rugby Festival in Peterborough. As you will see the date is August 17 which still seems a long ways away but it will be here before we know it. My mailing list is far from complete (or accurate for that matter) so if you know of anyone that I should add or if you would prefer to not receive info about the Oldies then please let me know. In order to plan the food and drink it would be helpful to get an idea of numbers so if you could reply on behalf of yourselves or maybe one rep per club and let me know how many players and supporters will be attending it would be much appreciated. Also feel free to forward this email to any rugby type mailing lists that you might have.
Until Next Time
