FW: AGM THIS SUNDAY

A reminder that the NOBS AGM is this Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at the club after the regular Sunday touch at 1:00 p.m. As usual there will be a recap of our year followed by the election of executives for 2016.

This year's AGM is an important one. Your current executive has spent considerable time identifying key long term challenges faced by our club, and it's important you provide your feedback as the next step in the process of addressing these challenges. To this end we will be setting aside time to specifically talk about these at the AGM and, most importantly, to hear your thoughts and ideas.

As many of you know the landscape for Old Boys rugby has changed dramatically over the years, and this change has become most apparent over the last few years. This impacts our club in many ways and we must act now to ensure the future of the NOBS as a vibrant organization in the changing rugby community. Your current executive has developed a strategy to address these challenges which we will present at the AGM, and we need your feedback, support and ideas to help the incoming executive team carry this work forward.

Look forward to seeing all of you Sunday

Cheers

Chuck Schandl

President NOBS RFC

NOBS WORLD, JANUARY 4TH 2016 : Update and Thank you

Happy New Year to everyone across the NOBS World.

Rolf Thomas, has asked we let everyone know that touch resumes this week in the Dome, on Tuesday and Thursday.   I have also received word from Rolf that the NOBS AGM is Sunday, January 24, at 3pm following Sunday touch.  Speaking of Sunday touch, we had a great turnout yesterday, 20+ players, including 2 old friends; Andrew and Evan Jackson.  The Geordies. Someone is now taller than the elder.  Good to see you lads.

Below, is a heartfelt message from Jason Leek.

See you in the Dome; Da Thug

Subject: Update and Thank you

Craig,  could you please pass this on to the NOBS email at your convenience.

Thanks

Jason.

Hello all,    I wanted  to update you on things as I know many of you have been asking how I am and whats going on.

It is now about a month since I underwent a surgery to remove a  brain tumor from the left side of my head.   I am pleased to say the surgery was a success and I am told there is a 100 percent tumor removal.  The last few weeks have been "uncomfortable" to say the least, but with the support of Ali and my Family, I am improving very rapidly and even managed to make it out to NOBS Touch for about 15 minutes last Sunday, although It wasn't a pretty sight. Right now,  I have some ongoing balance issues and some facial paralysis on one side that are both temporary and should disappear .   I do expect that over the next few months,  I will make a near 100 percent recovery and the tumor is extremely unlikely to reoccur. I have lost hearing on my left side which is permanent.  I am hoping to be fully  back at work by February.

I want to sincerely thank the many of you that reached out and extended your thoughts and  best wishes to me and Ali.   The past year has been a difficult one , however your support made things a lot easier to deal with.

Although for obvious reasons  contact rugby isn't an option,  I do hope to see many of you soon at NOBS touch and functions.

Wishing ALL of you a MERRY CHRISTMAS  and PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR.

  Thanks again.

  Jason.
